Balenciaga dresses are equally loved by the acting queens of Spain and Belgium, as well as by Hollywood divas Gloria Guinness, Marlene Dietrich (Marlene Dietrich), Babe Paley (Babe Paley), not to mention the it-girls of our time.
The popularity of the brand is explained by the new interpretation of the female silhouette. During the first wave of success of Balenciaga, the new forms of the designer looked at first ridiculous or, simply put, completely unattractive, but, over time, becoming familiar, they became the last chic - style baby doll, baggy silhouettes, a balloon skirt and the so-called "bracelet sleeve" (sleeve length about 8 × 10 cm (3 × 4 inches) below the elbow).
In today's post, Balenciaga's dresses are created by completely different designers. A publication dedicated to the best dresses, directly by Cristobal Balenciaga, will be released very soon!
Cristobal Balenciaga was the son of a seamstress from a small fishing town. At the age of 12, he became an apprentice in an atelier, and then, under the guidance of one of his influential clients (and also his patron), he entered a sewing school in Madrid and opened boutiques under his own name throughout the country. In 1937, the Spanish Civil War forced him to move to Paris. So the tragic event gave impetus to the career of a designer.
In the French capital, his clientele has expanded significantly, and Balenciaga has a reputation as the "best couturier". The designer closed his business in 1968, which forced the Countess Mona von Bismarck to lock herself at home from grief for three days. In 1972, at the age of 74, the great designer passed away.
In 1987, the name of the fashion house resurfaced in the context of the pret-a-porter label, but only in 1997, when French designer Nicolas Ghesquiere came to the post of creative director, they started talking about him in full force. After rethinking the fashion concept of the house of Balenciaga in previous years, the press started talking about the progressive Gesquière as the new messiah.
In 2001, the Gucci group added Balenciaga to their roster of luxury brands. Today, the tabloids are full of images of new Hollywood divas dressed in Balenciaga dresses, making the underground counterfeiting factories work with a vengeance.
