All peoples had their own national costumes, in some large and great countries, for example, in Russia, there were many types of national costumes, because everywhere there were their own characteristics and traditions, therefore, in each Russian province they created their own national costume. Only today we will go even further north, to the very end of the earth, to Norway!
The Norwegian national costume and especially the wedding dresses of Norwegian brides are also beautiful, and the precious crowns are somewhat reminiscent of our kokoshniks.
Traditional wedding headdress for the bride it was made in the form of a crown, and depending on the well-being of the family it could be made of different materials, including silver and gold. The crowns of northern beauties were decorated with various pendants, which emitted a gentle ringing when walking, this, according to popular belief, drove away the spirits of darkness from the bride. And the bride at the wedding had to dance until the crown fell from her head.
All photos are collected from various sources and were taken between the 1860s and the 1920s. Unfortunately, there was no photograph before, and we cannot see the real images of Norwegian brides from earlier times.
In the photos below, we can see the traditional costume of Norwegian girls from the beginning of the 19th century, as well as photos of girls from the very beginning of the 20th century.
Some girls in their crowns resemble the Snow Queen, only they have a warm look.
