Space completely surrounds planet Earth, and in fact, our planet is negligible even on the scale of the Milky Way galaxy. Despite this, the impact of space on the fashion industry is not immediately noticeable. At first glance, it may seem that in fashion Kim Kardashian a more influential figure than the entire universe, although in reality it is not.
The universe, stars, the sun, planets of the solar system, the moon and of course the flights of astronauts at different times influenced the work of many designers. On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin embarked on the first flight in the Vostok-1 spacecraft and for the first time in the world made a flight in the orbit of our planet. Gagarin's flight around the Earth lasted only 108 minutes, but this event had a huge impact on fashion and the entire history of mankind.
After this event, Pierre Cardin, André Courrezh and many other designers began to experiment with images and actively introduce space style into fashion. Then films and television series on the topic of space travel multiplied, which prompted the further development of space style in clothing and accessories.
Some images only vaguely remind of space, in other cases the clothes copy the shape and elements of a space suit, and more recently leggings, tops, T-shirts, shorts and sweatshirts, decorated with space prints - a scattering of stars, photographs of galaxies and nebulae.
Thanks to telescopes and interplanetary spacecraft, the fashion world has received many high quality photographs at its disposal. Distant galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and distant planets in the solar system now have clear images. Thanks to this, every girl can acquire clothes in a space style.
Space materials and shades in fashion
The most advanced technologies and materials are used in space, they are not as familiar and comfortable as natural leather and vicuna wool, but they have their own advantages. Thanks to new materials, clothes are durable, lightweight and comfortable.
The color of materials for space-style clothing also matters. Solar panels, silvery spacecraft lining, and shimmering spacesuits make silvery fabrics an element of space style. Although in reality space suits of real astronauts are not as silvery as fashionable clothes, we will talk about this next time.
Today we will not trace a clear chronology of the emergence of the space style. Instead, just look at the most successful fashion looks with elements of space style.
